Our aim

We want everyone to be able to plan a trip with us. This website is designed and built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 (opens in a new tab) at level AA.

What you should be able to do

  • use every part of the website with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator
  • use it with a screen reader, including menus, filters, the trip finder and the enquiry form
  • zoom text to 200 percent and view the site on a 320-pixel-wide screen without losing content
  • turn off motion using your device's reduced-motion setting
  • read every page without JavaScript, including all key content
  • see all content without waiting for animations

How we tested it

  • automated testing with axe-core on every page template and every key state, as part of every change we make
  • colour contrast checked for every combination of text and background the design uses
  • manual testing with VoiceOver on iOS Safari and NVDA on Firefox for the home page, a destination page, the journey finder, the trip finder and the enquiry form
  • keyboard-only testing of the menus, finders and enquiry form

Known limitations

  • Maps: the interactive maps are visual. Every map has a text list of the same places next to it.
  • Photographs from open collections: alt text describes each photograph for the page it appears on. If a description is unhelpful, please tell us.
  • Third-party content: review widgets and spam checks provided by others may not meet the same standard. We choose providers with accessibility in mind, and every form works without the review widget.

Tell us if something does not work
