Bill & Coo Mykonos

Sea-view suites with plunge pools and jetted tubs at Megali Ammos, a short stroll from Mykonos Town but out of its noise.

These photographs show Greece. Photography of Bill & Coo Mykonos itself is on its way from the property; ask us and we will send it.

Why we love it

Bill & Coo solves the usual Mykonos problem. Stay in town and you hear it all night; stay on a far beach and you spend your evenings in taxis. This small hotel sits above Megali Ammos, close enough to walk into Mykonos Town for dinner and quiet enough to sleep.

The suites are pared back and white, with the sea in front of almost every one, and the better categories add a private plunge pool, infinity pool or outdoor jetted tub. Evenings start at the Sunset Lounge with a resident DJ and cocktails from the in-house Bar Lab, then dinner at YĒVO, the hotel's Greek fine-dining restaurant.

It suits couples and friends who want the island's energy on tap without living in it. The hotel's sister property, Bill & Coo Coast at Agios Ioannis, runs the Beefbar and COOZEST restaurants if you want a change of scene. Families with young children and anyone after a big resort with kids' clubs should look elsewhere.

Dining

YĒVO is the fine-dining restaurant, led by executive chef Angelos Bakopoulos with a focus on Greek ingredients and cooking over fire. An all-day restaurant covers casual meals, breakfast is served à la carte, and the Sunset Lounge does drinks with a resident DJ. The sister hotel's Beefbar and COOZEST are at Bill & Coo Coast.

Wellness

The Valmont Spa offers Valmont treatments, and a gym with Technogym equipment is open 24 hours. The hotel can also arrange yacht days, horse riding on the beach and a Delos tour.

Children and families

The two-bedroom suites sleep up to five, but this is a quiet, couples-leaning hotel without children's facilities listed. Ask us and we will confirm the current policy for younger children.

A few of the things we plan for guests in Greece.

  • Whitewashed houses cascading down the caldera cliffs of Imerovigli, Santorini, above the Aegean

    The caldera edge on Santorini

Stay on the caldera rim in Imerovigli or Firostefani rather than Oia, which fills with visitors at sunset. Walk the cliff path from Fira to Oia early in the morning, then spend an afternoon tasting assyrtiko at a winery in the island's interior. A private catamaran at sunset avoids the crowds on the terraces. Cruise ships make the middle of the day busy from spring to autumn.

  • The white volcanic rock formations of Sarakiniko on Milos, seen from a boat on deep blue water

Sea caves and white rock on Milos

Much of Milos can only be reached by water. A day boat takes you to the sea caves and rock arches at Kleftiko, with swim stops in water so clear the seabed looks close enough to touch. On land, Sarakiniko is a moonscape of pale volcanic rock, best seen early. Plaka, the hilltop village, is the place for sunset and dinner.

  • Traditional painted fishing boats moored in a harbour on Paros, with whitewashed buildings behind

    Villages and beaches on Paros

Paros is the easy island: good beaches, short drives and the harbour at Naoussa lined with fish tavernas. Walk the old Byzantine path from Lefkes to Prodromos in the cooler hours, and take the short ferry to Antiparos for a quieter beach day. It suits families and couples who want a base with little driving.
